Disable Remote Registry

2. Hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard, and hit "C" to copy the text.

3. Click the Start button.

4. Click "All Programs."

5. Click "Accessories."

6. Click "Notepad."

7. Hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard, and hit "V" to paste the text into Notepad.

8. Click the Close (X) button in Notepad, and click "Save."

9. Specify where you want to save the file in the left column of the "Save As" dialog box. If you don't know where you want to put it, select "Desktop" for now.

10. Click the drop-down arrow to the right of "Save as type," and select "All Files."

11. Click in the "File name" box, and type (or copy-paste) "DisableRemoteRegistry.REG" as the name.

12. Click "Save."

13. Locate the file named "DisableRemoteRegistry." If you saved it to "Desktop," then it will be with all the other icons on top of the background that appears when you first start Windows.

14. Double-click on the "DisableRemoteRegistry" icon to apply changes. Click "Yes" to confirm your decision, and then "OK" when finished.
